Santa of the Town

With Christmas around the corner, we knew how excited all children were two weeks ago. All they could think, talk and dream was 'gifts' from Santa Claus.

So we decided to put a twist into this. We introduced "Santa of the Town" idea to them. It was simple. They had to write it down each time they helped someone and had to put the chits into our christmas box. The child with maximum number of chits would be the winner. Simple, isn't it?
NO! Children resisted the idea in the beginning, saying that they could never help people enough to even participate in this, let alone win it. We told them to just be conscious and aware of any help they give to others. It took them some time to warm up to this.

354 entries came!!!! Children were shocked to realise how helpful they generally are! Usually all they hear from adults around is "You are so naughty", "You are so intelligent", "You don't understand anything", "You look smart". They get responses for their good performance, poor performance and bad behavior. They generally don't appreciated for their good behavior. They don't know they are helpful and considerate. They don't know they are good people.

We came to know of stories from schools, where children were sharing pencils, giving seats to others, so that they could make chits. Parents told us how children were keeping their toys in place to write this for the competition! Yes!!

Time to appreciate our little ones! Time to help them see the good in themselves.
