2 tickets to Fallabda: By Tvisha

The Shop

Bella Afton was a young girl who lived with her family in Pennsylvania. Bella believed in fairies and elves and had dreams to go to FairyLand. Her best friend, Robin Quinn, also believed in fairies and elves, and wanted to be an author of fantasy stories. Bella and Robin played fairy games and drew fairies and elves. During their summer holidays, Bella’s mother would take Bella and Robin to FairyLand Fair, and during the winter holidays, Robin’s mother would make them their favourite fairy cookies and fairy-shaped marshmallows with hot chocolate. It was Bella’s 8th birthday, and for the seventh time, she was having a Fairy Party. Every year, Bella and Robin put forward a fairyland shop where everyone gives old things that could be reused and the two best friends would make fairies, elves, and many other things used by fairies and elves. One day, when the girls were selling and making at their shop, an old man came and gave them a wand that he owned when he was young. The man left before the girls could ask him if he wanted to buy something.

Bella picked up the wand and said, “HOCUS POCUS 123 MAKE MY SHOP LIKE A FAIRYLAND.” All of a sudden, the shop started spinning, and it spun and spun. Bella and Robin tried to reach the wand that had fallen down because of the spinning, and it spun and spun and spun and spun and stopped. The two girls looked around with amazement while papers, pieces of clothes, scissors, makers and other materials were flying above them. The material flew and flew and flew and flew above them, things flew and flew and everything was back on the table nicely arranged. The girls were amazed with the way the shop was looking with fairies and elves made of paper hanging from the ceiling, colourful clouds looking like yummy cotton candy were swinging from the ceiling and everything was like a real fairyland. Bella and Robin went out of the shop and saw the fairyland shop was in the shape of a house and not like the canopy they had before. It had a new fancy board neatly labeled ‘FAIRYLAND SHOP’.

Bella and Robin had more customers that day. They used the money to buy more things for the shop. A few days later when Robin and Bella reached home, they got bad news. “Girls I’m afraid I have some bad news. You will have to close the shop for the entire year as the day after tomorrow your schools are starting. But Mrs. Quinn and I decided to let you spend the night together”. “Oh! That is indeed bad news, mom,” sighed Bella. Robin got her favourite stuffed toy fairy. Robin reached her house after dinner. The girls first baked cakes and cookies shaped like fairies, and then watched the movie ‘TINKERBELL’. Around 12 midnight, the girls went to bed. The girls were fast asleep. The room was quiet. The house was quiet. The streets were quiet. The city was quiet. Everyone was fast asleep. Bella and Robin were sleeping when the bright sun woke Robin up.

The Wand Connection

Robin looked around. The place looked strange. She was getting scared and started waking up Bella. Bella did not wake up. Robin got more scared. “Bella, please wake up. Look, look, we are kidnapped”, cried Bella. “Ahhh! Bella woke up and shouted. The door opened and something flying came in. Bella and Robin shouted, “Aaaahhhhh!” “O, hi! I am so sorry to disturb you, Bella and Robin. I am Mrs. AppleFairy, and you are in the fairy guest house,” said a fairy. “Hi, are you a fairy and are we in fairyland?” asked Robin. “Yes Robin, I am a fairy and you are in Fallabda FairyLand,” said Mrs. AppleFairy. “Wow! Our dream came true!” said Bella excitedly. “We are delighted to meet you Mrs. AppleFairy,” said Robin, thrilled meeting a real fairy. The door opened and another fairy came in and said, “Hello girls. I am the queen of Fairies and the world’s FairyGodMother. And you are heartily welcome to Fallabda FairyLand.” FairyGodMother waved her wand at the girls. Glitter was swirling and spinning around them and then they were neatly dressed like fairies. They had wings and a beautiful gown just like a real fairy. “Wow!” exclaimed the girls.

“Let's go explore around.” called out Mrs. AppleFairy from the other corner combing hair. The girls, Mrs. AppleFairy, and FairyGodMother went out of the cottage to explore. First they went to the great Palace of the Fairy Queen. “This is the palace where I live.” began FairyGodMother. They started their way in the Palace. In front of the palace gate two elves were flying. The elves bowed at the queen and opened the gate. “Girls, this is Alvin and Bailey. They are my guards.” The girls waved shyly and followed the queen in the palace. It was the end of the tour and the queen had to go for a meeting so she waved goodbye and left for the conference room. Mrs. AppleFairy led the girls out of the palace. “Let me take you to the city where everyone lives." The girls went along with Mrs. AppleFairy to the city.  They went across the river, over the mountains and hills, through the supermarket, and around houses.

At the end of the journey, they came to Mrs. AppleFairy house. A huge garden was in the front yard. Mrs. AppleFairy had all kinds of flowers, fruits and vegetables. “This is a magnificent garden, Mrs. AppleFairy,” said Bella. “Thank you, this is the place the wand is connected from,” said Mrs. AppleFairy. Oh! So this is how we came here,” Bella said in surprise. Seeing through the garden, Robin asked, “How much time does it take to do all of this?” “It takes less than three months. It's not Rocket Science to do this, you just have to be patient,” said Mrs. AppleFairy. They went to the house to have breakfast. The house was beautiful. After their breakfast, they decided to take a stroll in the park and play. They left as soon as they were done with their breakfast. The park was crowded with fairies and elves were walking, exercising and doing other kinds of activities in the park. The girls first went for a stroll and then played around with Mrs. AppleFairy. After playing at the park, they went back to the guest house.

The Gold Terrain

“There are still 4 hours left for 6 Am.” said Mrs. AppleFairy, “You may want to go for a holiday.” Bella yelled with excitement, “Oh yes, we would love to.” “Yes, of course we would love to,” screamed Robin in eagerness. Mrs. AppleFairy called out a few places she knew, “You can go to… the beach in Hawaii, the Alps in Central Europe, the Thar Desert in India, the…” The girls interrupted, “The Thar Desert in India.” “It was our last chapter of the year and the most interesting chapter in the year,” said Bella. “Ok girls. But wherever you go, remember to come back, you have to reach the exact same place you appeared in at the Thar Desert,” told Mrs. AppleFairy, “Ready set go. HOCUS POCUS 123, Send Bella and Robin to The Thar Desert in India.” As soon as Mrs. AppleFairy said this, just in one wink they reached The Thar Desert. They saw boards around and on one of them it was written ‘You are in Jaisalmer’. The girls continued to walk. But they didn't know they were walking more to the city than the desert. As they went further, they saw people go on camels and wanted to try out as it looked fascinating and they were tired too, so they decided to go on it.

As the camel stood up, the girls got scared because of the bumpy, scrumpy way it stood up. “Ahh! I am falling down” cried Bella. Aare madam aap ko kuch nahi hoga. Bus pakad kar rakho. (Oh! Mam, nothing will happen to you. Just hold properly.)” said the camel driver, Sundar. The camel took them to the sand dunes. And at the sand dunes, they stopped to take a small break from the strange bumpy ride. As the camel sat down, the girls got scared because of the bumpy, scrumpy way it sat down. The girls got down from the camel and decided to go up the sand dune. As they started to climb up the dunes, they found some strange beetles. “Aahh! It's coming on me. Help Bella!” Robin yelled in horror. Bella pulled Robin away from there. Aap log kitna der the ho.Yeh toh sirf ek kaala bhrng hai, dekho. (You guys get scared of everything. This is just a darkling beetle, see.)” said Sundar as he threw the darkling beetle. As they climbed, they saw many other beetles. As the darkling beetles crawled around, they made tiny, weird footprints.

The girls got back on the camel to head back. Madam, panch sau rupee lugenge. (It will take five hundred rupees)” said Sundar. The girls got worried because they did not have any rupees or dollars. Robin put her hands into her pocket and found rupees. “Uh, how did this happen?” asked Bella. Madam, aur log ko jana he oont per, jaldi paise dijiye. (Mam, more people want to go on the camel, give the money fast)” pleaded Sundar. The girls quickly gave the money and left for more activities. As they walked further, Bella groaned in discomfort, "My legs hurt a lot." “Hey, look there is a jeep over there. Let's ask for a lift.” volunteered Robin. Kumbageni. Aap ko kaha jana hai? Agar aapne oont savari karli tho paragliding karne chalo. (Hello. Where do you want to go? If you have done camel riding, then go paragliding.)” said the jeep driver. The girls found the name paragliding fun and wanted to give it a try. “Take us paragliding,” Robin said.

The Mystical Porter

The jeep driver took the jeep into the desert. “I have butterflies in my stomach.” joked Bella as the jeep bounced. The jeep stopped at a wide open area without any plants or shrubs. A wide canopy resembling a parachute was attached to a person's body by a harness in order to allow them to glide through the air after jumping from or being lifted to a height. The girls got off the jeep. Madam, do sau rupee. (Mam, two hundred rupees.)” Asked the jeep driver. Robin put her hand in her pocket and found a two hundred note. The girls raced into the counter of the activity. “Kumbaghani, paragliding ke liye theen sau rupee prati vyakti. (Hello, for paragliding it will take three hundred rupeees per person.)” Said a man at the front desk. Robin again reached in her pockets to take out six hundred and gave it to the man. In return the girls got a coupon. The girls went forward to put on their harness. Before wearing the harness they had to give the coupon. Bella decided to go first and put the parachute.

Bella's parachute was connected to a quite long rope and the rope was connected to a jeep. The jeep started moving. As the jeep went further, the speed increased. Bella was lifted up in the air. “Woohoo! This is amazing.” shouted Bella in excitement. The jeep took a turn and slowed down. Bella slowly came to the ground. Two men came to catch her. They took out the parachute and put it in the back of the jeep. Bella went and sat in the jeep. As soon as Bella came out Robin was attached to the jeep. As the jeep went further, the speed increased. Robin was lifted up in the air. The jeep slowed down and Robin came back to the ground where her parachute was taken off. And she went to the jeep. The girls went back to the front desk for the time. The man showed his watch. It was 4:15 in the evening. The girls calculated the time and found out it was only 15 minutes to reach home.

The girls took a jeep and went back to the middle of the desert. The girls quickly paid and went into a magical porter. From the desert they reached the fairy guest house. The girls walked further and went into another porter. They finally reached home and quickly went back to bed. The girls were woken up for breakfast after an hour or two. The girls got freshen up and came to the breakfast table. Robin had her breakfast and left home to take a bath. The girls again met up at the shop and gave a last day's offer. The girls walked in and found a box and on the box it was written ‘FROM MRS. APPLEFAIRY’. The girls opened the box and found many books with the title. ‘WITH MRS. APPLEFAIRY’.  The girls arranged the books and started their work. The principal of their school came and asked for three boxes of these books. The girls gave their principal three boxes of books. The girls' shop was empty that night and many customers had come especially for the books and the offer.

Chapter 5- The Elephant Appeared In The Room

The girls closed the shop and decided to keep the money in Bella’s cupboard. The girls left home and had their supper. The girls soon were tucked into bed. The next morning the girls went to school. At school the principal came into their class and distributed the books. “This book was only in stock at Bella and Robin’s shop. I read this book yesterday and it seems like Bella Afton and Robin Quinn have written this book. The school is giving this book for free to every child in the school.” announced the principal, Mrs. Stefani. As the class teacher came in, Mrs. Stefani left the class so the teacher could give her introduction. “Hello children, my name is Sydney Williams. Today we will introduce ourselves.” introduced the class teacher, Mrs. Williams.  Everyone in the class introduced themselves and sat back down on their seats and started doing their work.

On the other hand, Mrs. Afton and Mrs. Quinn decided to go to the grocery store. At the grocery store the other ladies started asking for their autographs, “Oh my god Mrs.  Afton and Mrs. Quinn, please give us your autographs.” People also asked for advice, “Mam, how do you train your daughters to write such a good book?” and other such things like, “Mam you must be so rich with your daughters money.” “Mam, your daughters were doing great, why did you stop them?” Mrs. Quinn got mad and shouted, “I have no idea what you are talking about. Now please give us some way.” The ladies did as they were told.  Mrs. Afton and Mrs. Quinn decided to sip some tea and talk about the elephant in the room at Mrs. Afton’s house. The ladies thought about it very hard. After some time Mrs. Quinn had a brilliant idea and so they did it. They went to Bella’s cupboard and saw two whole boxes filled with money. Mrs. Afton and Mrs. Quinn decided to have dinner together and sort it out.

At dinner Mrs. Quinn asked the girls, “We know about your store but we don't know about the book. When did you write a book and how do we don’t know about it?” “Let us explain mom,” said Robin. “It all started on the night of the sleepover.” began Bella. “We found ourselves in a strange room. And then a fairy-like creature came into the room and introduced herself. She was actually a fairy, a fairy named Mrs. AppleFairy. It was a miracle to see a real fairy. After some time another fairy came into the room. She was the queen of fairies and the FairyGodMother of the world.” Robin then continued, “FairyGodMother made us into little fairies and we flew around with Mrs. AppleFairy.” “And then we came back to the room we appeared in and Mrs. AppleFairy decided to send us for a holiday at the Thar Desert in India. We went around the desert, did activities and came back home.” “But how did you have the money to pay for the activities in the desert?” asked Mr. Afton. “Another miracle dad. It all just appeared in Robin’s pocket.” replied Bella.

Chapter 6- The Jewellery

“The books had magically appeared in the store and when we saw it, we recognized it. And so we decided to sell it.” explained Robin. “You must be wondering about the money.”  Said Bella pointing at the boxes of money kept on the sofa. “It is all because of the books and the last day offer.” continued Bella. “Ok,” said Mrs. Afton. The families had their dinner and then the Quinn family left. One weekend as the girls were taking an early morning stroll, they spoke about Mrs. AppleFairy and FairyGodMother. The girls remembered a beautiful flower necklace on Mrs. AppleFairy's neck. “It was such a beautiful necklace made of clay.” praised Robin. “Anyways, you know Grandma is coming next week,” said Bella. “Grandma! She is amazing. She can help me with my upcoming book about fairies.” said Robin. Grandma also believed in fairies.

The girls decided to go to Robin’s house and make some jewellery for Grandma. They quickly ran to Robin’s house and took out all the art supplies they needed. They first decided to make a pair of earrings with beads. They took beads by beads and made a beautiful rainbow colored pair of earrings. The girls kept it on the side and made a necklace with the seashells Robin had got from her trip to Hawaii with her parents. The girls put seashells by seashells and made a beautiful seashell necklace and put it on the side. Then they made a bracelet of artificial flowers. They put flower by flower and put it on the side. The girls made a flower ring with buttons. They put a heart shaped button to make the beautiful heart ring. The girls then got an old jewellery box from Robin’s mother and adjusted the jewellery in it. The girls tied the box with a ribbon and labeled the box with grandma written on it.

Just two more days left for grandma to come. The girls wrote welcome on a big sheet of paper and stuck it on the front door. The girls also decorated the house with balloons and streamers. They asked Mrs. Afton to make grandma’s favourite food, Pasta and her favourite dessert, Apple pie. It was the day for grandma to arrive. The girls wore their best clothes and prepared all the things they needed to. Mr. Afton bought some pastries and gifts for grandma. The girls arranged some goodies for grandma in her room. “Just a few minutes for grandma to reach.” said Mrs. Afton. The girls waited for grandma to reach. They took rounds around the house to see if everything was proper and Bella’s younger sister, Lizzy, did not spoil anything. The bell rang and the girls went to open the door. As soon as Grandma came in, they gave her a hug. The girls soon noticed a necklace on Grandma’s neck. It looked exactly like Mrs. AppleFairy’s necklace. The girls looked at each other in amazement.

Magic Tree House: A review by Aaradhya R

The Magic Tree House book is about Jack and his little sister Annie. In the series, Jack and Annie find a magical treehouse. They go to different places in time by just pointing at a picture in a book. The book is really fun to read since there are pictures inside which go to the text. The story is also really interesting, and you always want to flip the page. In every book, there is always a prologue chapter that tells you all about the previous books and what’s been happening. In this way, you can understand the story even if you start with the 2nd book. In the series, there are 88 books (54 story books and 34 fact tracker). I find them all very interesting. When I am reading the books, I look forward to the end.
