Public speaking workshop is one of my favorites here. It's a big learning experience for all of us. Day 1 and Day 5 look poles apart. The anxious ones become confident about speaking in front of others. We try to comfort children that we all feel anxiety while performing in front of others. It's not about not feeling anxiety. It's all about managing that anxiety to help us practise more.
We usually cover these areas broadly
Mirroring for:
- Anxiety management
- Content management
- Time management
- Ideas- Flow and organization
- Use of condensation/expansion
- Regulation of body language
- Voice control (avoid- nasal, monotonous, flat, follow- pitch)
Before the stage:
- Mirroring
- Familiarity with the stage
- Importance of appearance
- Importance of reading for better general awareness
- Judge and understand the audience
- Regulate eye-contact, pace and poise.
- Avoid the 'yawners'
- Use gestures and movements
- Show passion and credibility
- Use opening lines and magnets
- Connect with the audience
- Use the 4-points audience technique
