We gave a pasta recipe to kids and asked them to cook and eat it at home! Tasty homework, isn't it? Then we asked them to convert the recipe into a story full of fantasy, magic and adventure. At first kids thought it was a crazy assignment, but when we discussed how great authors can observe the minutest things of everyday's experiences, exaggerate them to convert the thoughts into a wild story, kids took the bait.
