Tenali Raman was the wittiest person in King Krishnadeva Raya’s court. Once, a cook from Nizam State went to Vijaynagara. He said, "I can cook the best biryani in the world.” Saying this, he made biryani and gave it to everybody in the court. Everybody liked the biryani. The chef said, “I challenge you to make a dish as good as my biryani. Or else accept your defeat!”
King Krishnadeva Raya became scared. But Tenali said, “I can make a dish in two minutes and it is very tasty.’’ Tenali went to the royal kitchen and let the water boil over the stove. When the water began to boil, he put veggies and Maggi into the pot. When the noodles began to become soft, Tenali put some magic spices into the pot and stirred. The smell traveled from the royal kitchen to the court, and everyone in the court felt hungry with the yummy smells of the magic spices. He served Maggi to the whole court. The Nizam chef said, “This is the best dish I've ever tasted.” Tenali asked the chef to return. Thus, he saved Vijaynagara again. King Krishnadeva thanked Tenali for saving Vijaynagara by giving him a bag of 1,000 gold coins.
Another attempt to defeat Vijayanagara failed! Hail king Krishnadeva Raya!
